GTUC TEAMS UP WITH INDUSTRY AND CORPORATE GHANA

The Graduate School of Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has held the 2nd in the series of Prestigious Lectures for its students and the general public. The unique event comes off every month. The maiden lecture was jointly delivered by Mr. Scott Moody and Mr. Bill Spurill from the African Entrepreneurship Community on the theme: “Entrepreneurship: A necessary catalyst for Africa's Economic Survival”.

The lectures create an opportunity for students and Faculty to interact and share experiences with professionals and giants of industry and corporate Ghana. The lectures are delivered by seasoned professionals who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour and want to share with our students and faculty practical insights into their respective fields.

The 2nd edition of the "2014 Prestigious Lectures" was delivered by the Chief Executive Officer, UT Holdings, Mr. Martyn Mensah. He spoke on the theme: “Tomorrow Today, Future Proof Leadership”. With several years of experience in industry and the corporate world, Mr. Mensah, former Managing Director for Kasapreko took participants through a two-hour thought provoking presentation.

In his presentation, Mr. Martyn Mensah challenged participants to think ahead of their contemporaries, face the realities of life and be willing to respond positively to change which are ingredients for survival in life.

In expressing his appreciation on behalf of the participants, Mr Kafui Kudzawu, a masters student who runs a side business and also work as a graphic designer was very thankful and said “The talk on Leadership was very powerful and am very very optimistic this is a tool for those of us aspiring to "lead' an idea and hope to learn more from such lectures”. The general consensus from the participants was that “the ideas and experiences shared will provide participants with entrepreneurial skills that will add value and transform academic theories into practice”. They also added that, participants will be motivated and inspired to contribute their quota to the development of society.

Mr. Mensah ended his presentation with a familiar quote from Muhammad Ali, "Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill".

The Dean of the Graduate School, GTUC, Dr. Francis Agyenim Boateng thanked Mr. Martyn Mensah for honouring the School's invitation and also assured students of the University's commitment to the delivery of quality practical education for all. He added that, the Prestigious Lectures had come to stay and will attract professionals from all walks to the platform.
