Akwasi, had his primary education and Secondary education in Bishop Bowers Preparatory school at Laterbiokorshie and Adisadel College in Cape Coast respectively. The fifth of nine children, he entered university in the year 2000, which is almost three years after his mates had entered university. His time spent at home was used to gain experience in the corporate world by working in an accountancy firm.
Akwasi subsequently obtained a degree in Social Sciences from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology after which he moved to the United Kingdom to pursue his post graduate degree in Public Services Management. Whilst in the United Kingdom, he worked with the Sainsburys Supply chain and attained the rank of a manager at the Hoddesdon distribution center where he commenced his professional career in Logistics. On his return to Ghana, he enrolled with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (C.I.P.S) U. K. and is now a chartered / affiliate member. Akwasi currently heads the procurement unit of GTUC and also doubles as the Executive Assistant to President.
