GTUC ORIENTATION FOR FRESHMEN

Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has held an orientation programme for fresh students admitted for the 2014/ 2015 Academic Year into its undergraduate programmes.

As part of its tradition, new students admitted into GTUC are required to undergo a general orientation exercise to expose them to the mode of operation and other related activities on campus.

The orientation programme enables fresh students to become comfortable in their new learning environment. It also exposes fresh students to the University’s mission, vision and values.

Policies such as code of ethics, rules and regulations are disclosed to new students who are subsequently introduced to GTUC campus which helps them to attain a sense of belonging to the University community.

This year’s orientation was held at the Great Hall and recorded a high patronage of fresh students who have been admitted into the University College to pursue degree and diploma programmes in Engineering, IT Business and Informatics.

The President of GTUC, Dr. Osei K. Darkwa welcomed the freshmen, exposed them to the culture and the direction of the University College. He also introduced Faculty and Unit Heads who were present at the meeting.

Heads of Units took freshmen through their functions and services offered by their respective Units.

The Fresh Students also interacted with some faculty members who did presentations on specific issues relating to academic work. The students were given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of each presentation.

Closing the event, Dr. Awuah Baffour congratulated freshmen on their admission into GTUC and entreated them to make the best out of the opportunity.

The freshmen toured various facilities on campus to acquaint themselves with the area. Facilities toured included the Central Administration Block, the Centre for Online Teaching and Learning (COLT), the Library, Laboratories, the Graduate School, Cafeteria and the Bush Canteen.
