GTUC KUMASI CAMPUS ORGANIZES EBOLA SEMINAR
The Kumasi Campus of Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has organized a one day seminar on Ebola Disease for members of staff and students.
The seminar was on the theme “Creating Awareness, Prevention and Handling Ebola in a University Community” and was organized by the University Relations Unit of the Kumasi Campus. The seminar was to sensitize members of staff and the students on the deadly Ebola Virus.
In his welcome address, an Officer with the University Relations Unit, Mr. George Akom explained the need for members of staff and students to be sensitized to enable them prevent and manage cases of Ebola in the university community and in their neighborhoods.
The seminar which lasted for two hours was attended by all members of staff and students of the Kumasi Campus. The resource person, an Epidemic Management Team Member and Senior Dental Surgeon of Kumasi South Hospital, Atonsu-Agogo, Dr. Richard Atuwo-Ampoh took participants through the history, causes, and prevention of Ebola.
His presentation gave a lot of insight to the participants and the illustrations, demonstrations and interactions also helped participants to appreciate the issues. Participants took turns to ask questions during the Q & A session of the programme.
In his closing remarks, the Director, GTUC Kumasi Campus, Dr. George Oppong Ampong, thanked the resource person for coming to share information with staff and also thanked participants for making time to attend the seminar.
He encouraged members to put into practice the knowledge they have acquired from the seminar and entreated them to educate members of their communities about the pandemic.
